Ward's journey began February 3, 2011 at Springer Mountain, GA. He plans to trek the entire 2,181 mile Appalachian Trail, arriving at Mt. Katahdin, Maine in August 2011.

He may already be at the base-we're not sure. My hunch is he'll locate his package of clothes, shower for as long as it takes, then meet up with fellow hikers for lunch and some celebratory beer and then take a very lengthy nap!!! Then repeat again tonight!
